Grant Recipient: Mia Jonsson, University Student and Web Site Editor
Tenon Clearwood Employee : Mark Taylor
Mia says, “I have been incredibly lucky to receive funding from the Tenon Employee Growth Fund (TEGF) towards a multitude of studies over the past five years. I began my tertiary study journey in 2021 at the New Zealand Writer’s College where I earned certificates from 2021-23 in Mastering Punctuation, Grammar for Writers, Copy-Editing and Proofreading, Copywriting, Report Writing and Presentation, and Basics of Creative Writing. Following these I went on to complete a short course in Fashion and Luxury Business Discovery at the International Fashion Academy. These qualifications helped me progress further when I received funding from the TEGF towards my Bachelor of Arts in Ancient History and English at the University of Auckland, which I am due to finish at the end of 2025.
I feel immensely grateful for the support TEGF has given me over the last five years. Without the grants I would not have gained the qualifications that have helped me throughout my Bachelor’s Degree, as well as the editor position for the history website I now work at (OnThisDay.com). Because of my various studies I have gained many amazing experiences, including being chosen to partake in a month-long study abroad to Rome, Italy with the University of Auckland’s Ancient History department. None of this would be possible without the support of the TEGF, and I would like to extend a special thank you towards Sue Patterson who manages the Fund.”
